Upholding a Bowl of Honest Food, Rising from a Roadside Stall
For five years, Han Song and his wife have run a small stir-fry stall at a gravel plant. As costs rise, they increase their prices from 10 to 12 yuan, provoking opposition from Zheng Xiaohu, a powerful figure at the plant, who demands that they restore the old prices. Another couple, who once received help from Han Song and his wife, brings their food truck across the road, hoping to steal their customers with low prices and using inferior ingredients to maximize profits. Unwilling to cut corners, Han Song watches his stall get smashed by a drunken Zheng Xiaohu and his men, leaving him with no choice but to seek a new way forward.

Depuis cinq ans, Han Song et sa femme tiennent un petit stand de plats sautés dans une carrière de gravier. Face à la hausse des coûts, ils augmentent le prix de leurs plats de dix à douze yuans, ce qui provoque l'opposition de Zheng Xiaohu, un homme influent de la carrière, qui exige le retour aux anciens tarifs. Un autre couple, qui avait autrefois bénéficié de l'aide de Han Song et de sa femme, installe son camion-restauration de l'autre côté de la rue dans le but de leur voler leur clientèle grâce à des prix bas. Pour faire davantage de bénéfices, ils n'hésitent pas à utiliser des ingrédients de mauvaise qualité. Han Song refuse de sacrifier la qualité de ses plats, mais Zheng Xiaohu, ivre, débarque avec ses hommes et détruit son stand. Contraint de repartir de zéro, Han Song doit trouver une nouvelle voie.
