On the Day of the Wedding, Father Sat Outside the Lights
On her wedding day, Jiang Sui's father sells their old family home to gather a 3.2 million dowry and rushes to the hotel, only to be assigned a backup seat by the groom, Gu Chengyan. Her younger brother, Jiang Huai, is suddenly replaced as a groomsman, and his boutonniere is given to Lin Zhiyi's younger brother instead. The dowry chest is discarded, and the thank-you list mentions only the Gu and Lin families, deliberately leaving out Jiang Sui's father's name. Jiang Sui removes her veil on the spot, announces that the engagement is off, and leaves with her father and brother. After founding her own company, Sui'an, she wins a major client, Mr. Zhou, through her own abilities. Gu Chengyan loses the project and has his succession qualification suspended. Only then does he understand that Jiang Sui had been trying to preserve everyone's dignity. He begs her to reconcile, but she refuses.
