During a lunar return mission, the return rocket takes off without Chen Mo on board, leaving him stranded on the Moon. After failing to catch up, he witnesses a meteorite crashing into Earth. With communications cut off, he mistakenly believes that humanity has been wiped out. He enters the Tiangong Base and activates the Global Management System and Yutu, discovering that his oxygen supply will last five years, while his food and water will last three. Meanwhile, the impact in the Pacific Ocean has caused massive casualties and damaged facilities on Earth, but survivors are receiving rescue assistance. When the ground control team manages to receive images from Tiangong again, they confirm that Chen Mo is alive, but they are temporarily unable to restore two-way communications or launch a crewed rescue mission.
