The Dark Shadow at the Midnight Entrance
At 3:00 AM, I woke up needing to pee. Just as I put on my shoes and prepared to go downstairs, our family's usually gentle and non-biting native dog suddenly bit hard onto my trouser leg, whimpering and desperately dragging me back into the room, and no matter how I kicked, I couldn't shake it off. The next day, the community residents' chat group exploded. Neighbors said that starting at 2:00 AM, a person had been standing continuously in the hallway, motionless all night. I clicked on the surveillance screenshot and zoomed in to check: that person was standing right at my front door, with their face pointing directly at the peephole on the door. Fortunately, because of the dog's obstruction, I was safe and sound, and subsequently smoothly investigated and eliminated the hidden danger, restoring peaceful and stable living.
