Lin Chunmei and Zhao Qiang had been in love for five years, but because she couldn't provide a city property, Zhao's family publicly called off their engagement. Heartbroken, she returned to Qingshan Village to take over the dilapidated courtyard and few acres of wasteland left by her grandmother. Facing a leaky old house, neglected fields, villagers' doubts, and difficult sales channels, she relied on her grandmother's farming notebook to start from half an acre of vegetable garden and twenty native chickens. Step by step, she repaired the well, grew vegetables, made pickles, and sold vegetable baskets. Villagers like Chen Dashan, Aunt Li, and Grandpa Wang gradually joined in, transforming the farm from a personal livelihood into a collective village venture. When an outside company offered a high price to buy up their heirloom seeds, Lin Chunmei chose to protect the land and her fellow villagers.
