After falling off a cliff, Xie Qingyan inherits the legacy of the Dao of Painting. He descends the mountain to fulfill his promise to marry Jiang Wanli and drives away Gu Yunfeng, who disrupts their wedding. He joins the Demon Suppression Bureau and repeatedly foils the deadly schemes laid by the spider demon Qin Chongyuan, putting an end to the demon calamity in the southern city. After arriving in the capital, he is framed by the Third Prince, Xiao Jingyuan, through a sinister plot. Using the divine beast Ditian from his painting, Xie Qingyan exposes the conspiracy. In the final battle, he gathers all the divine beasts, uncovers the truth behind the massacre of the Xie family, and kills the villains. Refusing the offer to take the throne, he paints a Ten Thousand Beasts Demon-Suppressing Pagoda to protect the land and retires with Jiang Wanli.

Il descend de la montagne pour tenir sa promesse d'épouser Jiang Wanli et repousse Gu Yunfeng, venu semer le trouble lors de leur mariage. Il rejoint le Bureau de Répression des Démons et déjoue à plusieurs reprises les pièges mortels tendus par Qin Chongyuan, le démon-araignée, mettant ainsi fin au fléau démoniaque dans la ville du Sud. Arrivé dans la capitale, il est victime d'un complot du troisième prince, Xiao Jingyuan. Mais Xie Qingyan utilise Ditian, la bête divine de son tableau, pour dévoiler la machination. Lors de l'affrontement final, il rassemble toutes les bêtes divines, découvre la vérité sur le massacre de la famille Xie et élimine tous les scélérats. Il refuse le trône qu'on lui propose, peint une pagode de suppression des démons des dix mille bêtes pour protéger le royaume, puis se retire du monde avec Jiang Wanli.
