As her due date arrived, Jiang Mengru fell down at home. To everyone's shock, her mother, Bai Xiulan, insisted on taking care of her younger sister, Jiang Xiaoting, completely neglecting the heavily pregnant Mengru. By the time Jiang Mengru was rushed to the hospital, it was already too late. Despite all his efforts, her father, Jiang Fumin, failed to save both Mengru and her unborn child. He knew full well that this tragedy stemmed from Bai Xiulan's blatant favoritism, and was consumed by endless remorse for not stepping in to stop it when he could have. Meanwhile, Bai Xiulan wouldn't even answer her phone.
