Wang Daniu's sister-in-law wanted to seize the family property all for herself, so she poisoned his food. Fortunately, an old hen at home warned him twice, helping him escape disaster. Seeing her plot exposed, the sister-in-law kicked him out of the house. With tears in his eyes, Wang Daniu buried the old hen that had shielded him from doom. In the middle of the night, the hen transformed into a divine bird and gave him a magical seed. After planting it, a date tree sprouted and bore golden dates, which soon attracted his sister-in-law and outside conspirators who came to harm him in the dead of night.
