Zhu Xiaosan, successor of the Ghost Valley sect, is a master of medicine and poisons. Descending the mountain in search of destiny, he encounters Zhao Yuxin and notices she is gravely ill. After playfully teasing her and earning her anger, she realizes her condition has improved, and Zhu Xiaosan shares his Jin Gui prescription. He takes up residence in the Zhao household, but his senior martial sister Xu Shuniang tracks him down. Sensing his aura on Zhao Yuxin, she secretly poisons the household. Zhu Xiaosan realizes too late and resorts to combating poison with poison, stripping Zhao Yuxin to treat her with herbal smoke. Xu Shuniang arrives to fight him, dredging up past grievances: years ago, after Zhu Xiaosan made a medical error, Xu Shuniang sacrificed herself to mob boss Zhang Hu to save him.
