The Butcher Girl and the Sour Scholar
Every pig in the village is afraid of Su Xing'er, but none of the villagers is afraid of Lu Shiyan. She slaughters pigs, and he keeps the accounts. An early divorce agreement brings the two together in front of the same kitchen stove. Butcher Zhao wants to take over her shop, while Shopkeeper Wu has his eyes on her kitchen. In the end, one obediently pays back for the ribs, while the other gets his fraudulent accounts thoroughly investigated by the county magistrate. She thinks he's too stuffy, and he thinks she's too wild. But whenever an outsider picks on either of them, they instantly turn against that person and stand together. The village food competition is hosting another round, testing not only their cooking skills but also whether these two can keep working together. As long as the kitchen fire keeps burning and the account books stay in order, the Sour Scholar and the Butcher Girl's eatery will open bright and early tomorrow.
