At the wedding, the groom, Zhou Jingchuan, abandons his bride, Xu Nian'an, insisting on going to care for his widowed sister-in-law, who has just given birth. His mother-in-law acts as though she is entirely in the right, planning to let the sister-in-law and her baby move into the master bedroom of Xu Nian'an's marital home. Seeing through the family's schemes, Xu Nian'an is utterly heartbroken and decisively puts her own house up for sale. When Zhou Jingchuan and the others pick up his sister-in-law from the hospital and excitedly return to the marital home, they discover that the property has already been sold.
