Driven Away at Four Yuan a Jin, After the Cold Wave the Whole Village Begs
With a cold wave approaching, fruit merchant Zhou Cheng returns to his village and offers to buy all the oranges for the high price of four yuan per jin. When the cold wave arrives as predicted, all 3,000 tons of oranges in the village freeze and are destroyed, leaving the villagers with nothing. They kneel and beg Zhou Cheng to buy their frozen fruit, but he refuses. Instead, Zhou Cheng partners with a neighboring village to build cold-storage facilities and a sorting center, signing long-term contracts and helping farmers withstand natural disasters.
