Drugged on the Day of the Graduate Entrance Exam, I Smiled as I Made Three Phone Calls
On the first day of her graduate entrance exam, Chi Yan, who had spent a year preparing, is drugged with a controlled sedative by Zhong Bei, a fellow student who has secured a recommendation for graduate school. As a result, she misses the first-round exam. Zhong Bei claims he did it to comfort Fang Ning, who has spent years fabricating stories about Chi Yan bullying her, and even offers to make Chi Yan his girlfriend as compensation. Calmly, Chi Yan makes three phone calls: to her father, a criminal defense lawyer; to the police emergency number, 110; and to her best friend in the journalism department. She meticulously preserves all the evidence of the drugging. Zhong Bei is later sentenced to prison for the crime of placing dangerous substances, and both his graduate recommendation and student status are revoked. Fang Ning, who deliberately drove a wedge between them, receives disciplinary punishment from the university. Both of their futures are ruined. Chi Yan secures permission to take the exam as usual the following year, studies hard, and earns a high score to gain admission. After entering graduate school, she specializes in legal aid for victims and personally reclaims the justice and fair treatment she deserves.
