From One Bowl of Porridge to One Family
On the road of fleeing famine, Zhou Xingzhi is taken in by the Lu family, staying behind to care for Lu Huai'an, who is unable to walk due to injuries. One strives to survive while the other loses confidence in the future, and the two gradually grow attached to each other through their day-to-day companionship. Xingzhi accompanies Huai'an in healing his legs and practicing walking, and also uses the skills taught by her grandmother to make chili sauce, starting a small business in town. Facing gossip and old emotional entanglements, they treat each other with sincerity and firmly choose one another. In the end, Huai'an stands up again, and the two join hands to build a home, living a life of increasing hope with hard work and true hearts.

Sur la route de l'exode face à la famine, Zhou Xingzhi est accueillie par la famille Lu et reste pour s'occuper de Lu Huai'an, incapable de marcher à cause de ses blessures. L'une lutte pour survivre tandis que l'autre perd confiance en l'avenir, et tous deux s'attachent peu à peu l'un à l'autre au fil de leur vie commune. Xingzhi accompagne Huai'an dans ses soins et ses exercices de marche, tout en préparant de la sauce pimentée selon le savoir-faire transmis par sa grand-mère pour monter un petit commerce au bourg. Face aux rumeurs et aux vieux errements sentimentaux, ils se montrent sincères et se choisissent fermement l'un l'autre.
