Together, they uncover that the Shanxi salt tax case is actually an act of treason orchestrated by court officials and salt merchants smuggling silver to Liaodong. On the verge of execution, an imperial edict saves Shen Mo, promoting him to Foreman to probe deeper into the conspiracy. When villains silence witnesses to frame him, Shen Mo secretly tracks down the reclusive former censor Liu Qian and obtains handwritten letters proving high treason. Presenting the irrefutable evidence during a joint court trial, Shen Mo brings the traitors to justice.
