Poor art student Tang Cong unexpectedly awakens the supernatural ability to communicate with pests. Late at night, she is told by rats that her upstairs neighbor was murdered. Relying on the rats' descriptions, she sketches a portrait of the killer, aiding the police in solving a serial murder case, and is subsequently hired by the public security bureau as a "criminal investigation consultant." Leading a squad of pest informants, she cracks multiple cases in a row and, with clues provided by her informants, tracks down the real culprit behind the "Rainy Night Killer" case that went unsolved for six years in the north. Throughout her investigations, Tang Cong transforms into a highly trusted detective hero, builds a deep bond with her police partners, gains a loyal band of pest allies, and ultimately devotes herself to a great criminal investigation career.
