For the eightieth birthday of Huo family patriarch Huo Chengyuan, mother-in-law Qian Sufen tasks daughter-in-law Pei Niansheng with organizing the banquet, claiming the funds have already been transferred to her account. At the hotel to finalize a high-end plan, Pei Niansheng discovers only 200 yuan in her account. After reaching out to her mother-in-law whose phone is off and her dismissive husband Huo Yuheng to no avail, she decides to prepare the feast solely with the funds at hand. Pei Niansheng buys instant noodles and eggs, serving noodles in fine white porcelain tureens within the hotel's lavish banquet hall.
