A Channel of Spring Water Flows Past the Southern Fields
After a prolonged drought, the village fields are cracked and dry, making it impossible to sow crops. A young farmer returning to his hometown leads the villagers along an old irrigation canal to investigate the cause of the water shortage. By examining water marks and water gauges, they discover an earthen embankment diverting the flow and a spring outlet clogged with silt. Setting aside their disputes, everyone works together to reinforce the banks, repair the stone sluice gate, and clear the spring, allowing fresh water to flow back into the parched fields. The person who secretly diverted the water admits their mistake and joins the repairs. The villagers agree on an irrigation schedule, pledging to protect the canal and use the water fairly. Through their united efforts, they rebuild trust and bring the land back to life, learning that protecting their home requires facing facts, reaching fair agreements, and having the courage to take responsibility.
