On his master's orders, Lin Yu descends the mountain to deliver a sample of fish mint herb worth 36 yuan. When the building entrance is blocked, he climbs up to the 18th floor with his bare hands and rescues Su Wanqing from being threatened by hired thugs. He leaves after collecting only the agreed payment for the goods. Upon learning that he is her betrothed, Su Wanqing brings a large sum of money to call off their engagement. The two initially agree immediately, but discover that breaking off the engagement would allow the antagonist to obtain the authorization for the medicinal plant. They therefore agree to a hundred-day pact, with Lin Yu serving as a consultant to help Su Wanqing overcome one crisis after another. As their feelings gradually deepen, they uncover old grudges and join forces to thwart the antagonist's conspiracy.
