The Young Master from the City Goes to Liangshan and Is Tamed by a Bowl of Sweet Potato Porridge

42 episodesFullCompleted

Fourteen-year-old Xu Xiaoman, a privileged county-town boy, smashes the glass at his family's supermarket and makes his mother ill with worry. A signed agreement sends him to a Yi village in Liangshan, where 68-year-old Qubi Amo is tasked with disciplining him for seven days. He complains that the food is rustic and the mountains are dirty, demanding money instead. Amo simply says, "You'll have enough to eat. If you want vegetables, carry a bundle of firewood first." Sweet potato porridge, a blackboard at the village entrance, a slipknot rope, and nine-year-old A Mu become part of his new life. He chops wood in exchange for eggs, delivers shoes, and helps save grain. One feverish night, Amo carries him up the steepest 800 meters of the mountain. The short drama portrays them as an arrogant young master and a tough grandmother. Only then does he understand that human kindness cannot be measured by price tags, and a person's story should never be reduced to half the truth. From Liangshan to the stage in the county town, he learns that words bottled up for too long turn sour, and that some things must be said face-to-face.
