Wang Xiuying, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, always struggles to win the favor of her daughter-in-law, Zhang Li. Coincidentally, her birthday clashes with Zhang's mother's birthday. Zhang insists on dragging her husband, Li Guodong, to celebrate her own mother's birthday, and before leaving, secretly switches Wang Xiuying's medicine. After taking the swapped medicine and missing her regular dosage time, Wang suddenly falls ill and collapses while video-calling her daughter, Li Huilan. Li Huilan urgently dispatches emergency personnel, but repeatedly fails to contact her younger brother, Li Guodong. With no other choice, she goes to seek help, only to be humiliated by Zhang Li's family, and ultimately has to kneel in exchange for the house key. Learning that Zhang Li is pregnant, Li Huilan's heart turns to ashes, and she resolves to stage a fake funeral with her mother, solely to seek justice.
