Lo único que reciben es un arpón oxidado capaz de someter al mar. Los hermanos sufren toda clase de abusos por parte de la familia Shen, hasta que Ye Xiaoman interviene para ayudarlos. El arpón oculta un poder divino que permite detectar los recursos del fondo marino. Gracias a él, Zhou Chaosheng se hace a la mar para ganarse la vida y conoce al ave espiritual A Lang y a la bestia marina Zhang Wang.
