Captured and brought back to the royal palace by her former husband, Chang Nian expects the worst. Instead, she finds a table overflowing with precious jewels. Pourtant, elle découvre une table couverte de bijoux précieux. « Entre moi et ces bijoux, qui choisis-tu ? » Lorsqu'elle se plaint que les bijoux sont laids, il ordonne aussitôt qu'on les remplace. Et quand elle frappe la table, il va jusqu'à s'agenouiller devant elle ! En public, Chen Ping est le puissant et majestueux prince de Yong. En privé, pourtant, il est totalement désemparé face à cette petite peste aussi douce dans ses paroles qu'agaçante. Il prétendait l'avoir ramenée pour la punir, mais le voilà désormais occupé à la rendre heureuse, tout en cachant sa jalousie. Au début, Chang Nian pense que leurs retrouvailles sont simplement dues à des sentiments anciens qui ne se sont jamais éteints.
