Modern young man Lin Zhao and his four companions accidentally find themselves transported to the fourth year of the Xuanhe era of the Northern Song Dynasty. They settle in Qinghe Village at the foot of Long Mountain. Seeing the villagers repeatedly troubled by bandits and struggling to make ends meet, they decide to stay and help. Led by Lin Zhao, they work with the villagers to repair homes and look out for one another. His companions each take on different tasks: opening a medical clinic to save lives, researching craftsmanship to improve farming, and studying for the imperial examinations to build a better future. By forging friendships throughout the village and helping the weak, they repeatedly overcome crises through their intelligence and hard work, earning the villagers' affection and the admiration of local officials. Though the world remains troubled, all they want is to protect this land, ensure that the young and old of Qinghe Village can live in peace and prosperity, and carve out a place for themselves in this unfamiliar era.

Lin Zhao, un jeune homme des temps modernes, et ses quatre compagnons se retrouvent accidentellement transportés dans la quatrième année de l'ère Xuanhe de la dynastie des Song du Nord. Ils s'installent au village de Qinghe, au pied du mont Long. Constatant que les habitants sont régulièrement terrorisés par des bandes de brigands et vivent dans des conditions difficiles, ils décident de rester pour leur venir en aide. Sous la direction de Lin Zhao, ils collaborent avec les villageois pour réparer les maisons et veiller les uns sur les autres. Ses compagnons se répartissent les tâches : ouvrir une clinique pour soigner et sauver des vies, étudier les techniques artisanales afin d'améliorer l'agriculture et poursuivre leurs études pour passer les examens impériaux. En nouant des liens avec les habitants et en aidant les plus faibles, ils surmontent crise après crise grâce à leur intelligence et à leur travail acharné, gagnant ainsi l'affection des villageois et l'estime des autorités locales. Malgré les troubles qui secouent encore le monde, ils souhaitent seulement protéger cette terre, permettre aux habitants de Qinghe, jeunes et vieux, de vivre en paix et dans la prospérité, et bâtir leur propre avenir dans cette région étrangère.
