Born with a rebellious streak, Er Niu saw through the deep-seated favoritism hidden within the old family courtyard. Her grandmother Zhang Guifang always favored the first and third branches, never sparing a bit of sweet benefits for the second branch, while dumping all the exhausting household chores onto Er Niu's parents. Her gentle and forbearing parents repeatedly endured mistreatment without fighting back. Watching all of this, Er Niu refuses to submit. She starts to play slack and push back—never letting go of advantages she can claim, and sneaking back what she cannot. Facing her grandmother's harsh scolding and beatings, she rolls on the ground, dodges smartly, and turns the entire household upside down.
