For twenty years, Wangji Beef Brisket Noodles in the city's urban village has stood its ground. The elder brother, Chen Wang, runs the kitchen, while his younger sister, Chen Nian, manages the accounts. Twenty years ago, their father was driven to his death by Bai Hongtu, a real estate redevelopment tycoon. All he left behind was a partially burned recipe and a final instruction: Guard the pot, not your grudge. Now, as Zhao Sanye demands rent, Shen Wanjun sets a trap, and a ninety-day demolition order closes in, his sister secretly conceals her congenital heart disease, swallowing her illness rather than spending the 150,000 yuan needed for surgery. At the grand opening celebration, Chen Wang lays out the evidence and forces the real culprit into the open, winning justice but failing to keep his sister by his side. Later, the shop grows into a citywide chain, but he still owes her a bowl of noodles: one bowl for his father, and one for his sister.
