In Qinghe Village during autumn, twenty-nine-year-old Chen Yu returns home from the city. Looking at the remaining straw in the fields, he decides to turn them into daily necessities. He learns straw weaving from elderly Luo Guilan, turns an old granary into a workshop, and receives help and honest feedback from his friend He Qing. The first batch of samples receives feedback at the town market, all of which he records for improvement. When the homestay order suffers from dampness after rain, he does not repair it, but instead completely remakes it overnight until the guests are reassured. Three months later, his father hands him a bundle of new straw, and life gains an echo.
