Evening Cooking Knows Human Hearts
Jiang Zifeng, a chef, has shared an apartment with her university classmates for years. Every day after work, she buys groceries and cooks dinner, asking everyone only to split the cost of the ingredients. However, new roommate Xiao Xinyan accuses her of secretly pocketing the difference. Xiao Xinyan persuades her boyfriend to replace Jiang with supposedly free meals, only to start charging the roommates herself, ordering them around, and using questionable ingredients that leave two of them with food poisoning. To escape responsibility, Xiao Xinyan spreads rumors at the restaurant where Jiang works, costing her an innocent job. No longer willing to put up with the mistreatment, Jiang moves out and uses her savings to open Maple Grove Bistro. As her former roommates attempt to reconcile and scheme against her again, she stands by her principles, recovers her losses, and, surrounded by new friends who genuinely respect her, finally learns to live for herself.
