Chen Yi partnered with his cousin Zhao Lei to run the private restaurant Zhao Mansion Cuisine for five years, turning the small eatery into a viral sensation with long lines relying on his superb culinary skills. When settling the accounts at year-end, Zhao Lei claimed that the storefront was his and the customers were brought in by him, handing Chen Yi only 40,000 as a dividend while pocketing over 5 million for himself. Unwilling to be exploited any longer, Chen Yi resolved to branch out on his own. Taking the secret recipe passed down by his master, he set up his own kitchen and staged an incredible comeback with the appreciation of his benefactor Zhou Mingyuan and the female lead Lin Wanqiu. Plummeting from his high horse, Zhao Lei begged Chen Yi for mercy multiple times only to be met with cold rejection, ultimately being abandoned by everyone and imprisoned due to usurious debts, while Su Wan was reduced to begging on the streets. Chen Yi kept his integrity and achieved immense success in both his career and love life.
