Feigning Destitution to Return to the Village, Finally I Show My Cards
Su Wanqing, of immense wealth, deliberately disguised herself as burdened by debt and destitute to return to her old hometown, simply wishing to test the true hearts of the fellow villagers who had once received her help. However, the three households that had previously enjoyed her favors one after another revealed cold and fickle faces: Li Laoshi, cowardly and afraid of his wife, blindly backed down; Wang Suanpan, calculating and meticulous, set up defenses everywhere; and Ma Dazhuang, rash in temper, openly uttered insults. Only the simple and kind Chen Shouyi and Yang Chune disregarded gains and losses, sincerely taking in the down-and-out her. Having seen through the warmth and coldness of human relationships in the countryside, Su Wanqing no longer suppressed her forbearance; a motorcade drove into the village to openly display all her bottom cards, and this group of ungrateful and snobbish villagers finally ushered in an ending belonging to themselves.
