After Meng Yu failed her high school entrance exam, her father, Meng Baoguo, insisted on sending her to a private high school, working hard carrying cement at construction sites and borrowing money everywhere to scrape together her tuition. However, upon entering the private high school, Meng Yu gradually became consumed by vanity, frequently demanding material fees, branded clothes, and a smartphone from her father, and even falsely claiming her father was a factory director, unwilling to acknowledge his identity as a migrant worker. To meet his daughter's demands, Meng Baoguo repeatedly advanced his wages from the foreman while economizing on his own food, even chewing on steamed buns and salted pickles. Not only did Meng Yu lack understanding, but she also hurled abuses at her father in front of classmates, stole her mother's surgery money to buy luxury goods, and even borrowed loan-shark money.
