Fifteen Autumns on the Phoenix Throne, The Divine Doctor Swears to Sever the Head
The night that fierce fire devoured the Valley of the Medicine King, I curled up inside a freezing dry well, listening to the harrowing screams outside. Fifteen years vanished in a flash, and I hid away in the mountains and forests, using my medical skills to save the common people of the world. Today, guards carried over the Crown Prince, who was afflicted with a strange poison, begging me to treat him, with ten thousand taels of gold piling up the courtyard. Yet, catching sight of that jade pendant at his waist, the blood throughout my body suddenly turned ice-cold. Under all under heaven, only I can neutralize this poison, but I resolutely put away my silver needles. The Crown Prince roared fiercely, using the extermination of the nine clans to coerce me into submission. Everyone else said I was arrogant and mad with skill, but only I knew in my heart that I was refusing not just a patient, but refusing to let that blood-soaked past, buried deep for fifteen years, sink into eternal silence!
