On a rainy night seven years ago, Shen Yu gave birth to twins for the Shi family, only to be forcefully drained of blood in the delivery room just to save the Shi family's eldest grandson, Shi Nanfeng. When her husband Shi Lu rushed in, all he found was a sheet-covered body and a blood-stained amulet. Seven years later, Shen Yu has lost both her voice and memory, scraping by on picking up trash to raise her daughter Xiaoguai. Through a twist of fate, Xiaoguai becomes Shi Nanfeng's classmate. An essay about mothers sparks a conflict, and Shen Yu jumps from a building to protect her daughter, sustaining severe injuries. Kneeling before hospital director Shi Lu, Xiaoguai weeps and pleads: "Mister, please save my mother."
