On a calm afternoon at the apartment, the entire city is unexpectedly engulfed in a thick, eerie, viscous fog. Electronic devices instantly black out and fail, cutting off all signals. Inside a high-rise apartment, Lin Shen and Su Wan look out the window, only to see a dead, grayish-white void; even the outline of the opposing building has vanished. The hallways are unnervingly quiet, devoid of human voices or the hum of elevators. Exchanging glances, they suppress their unease and resolve to check their surroundings for safety. Gripping what few items they have at hand, they feel their way toward the fire exit under the faint daylight, taking their first step toward escape into the silent mist.
