During the Dayin Dynasty, the deposed crown prince was framed for treason by Grand Secretary Lu Mingyuan, resulting in the annihilation of his entire family. His orphan, Li Ye, changed his name and lived in hiding, becoming a compiler in the Hanlin Academy. When he submitted memorials criticizing current ills, he faced suppression and was demoted to the cold palace to compile history, where he fortuitously discovered his true identity. Joining forces with the female physician Su Wan and the elderly eunuch Zhou Dehai, Li Ye gathered tampered old archives, physical evidence, and witnesses to break through the heavy persecutions of the powerful official. Son orphelin, Li Ye, changea de nom et vécut caché, devenant compilateur à l'Académie Hanlin. Ayant soumis un mémorial critiquant les maux de l'époque, il fut réprimé et rétrogradé au palais froid pour compiler l'histoire, découvrant par hasard sa véritable identité. S'associant à la femme médecin Su Wan et au vieil eunuque Zhou Dehai, Li Ye rassembla des archives anciennes falsifiées, des preuves matérielles et des témoins pour briser la persécution acharnée du puissant fonctionnaire. Après avoir survécu aux périls de la prison et s'être finalement confronté devant l'empereur, il renversa le fonctionnaire traître et lava l'injustice de dix ans de ses ancêtres.
