Living alone, Lin Jing treated her neighbors in the old residential building like family. She cooked free meals for them for three years and even fronted 38,000 yuan to install a sewage pump. However, Sister Chen led the neighbors in slandering her, refusing to pay, and even injuring her and reporting her for fines. Disillusioned, Lin Jing smashed the pump and moved out. The building was immediately overrun by backflowing sewage, pests, and power/water failure. From surrounding her to demand compensation to infighting and begging for mercy, the neighbors finally paid up and admitted their wrongdoing. Lin Jing demanded a public apology from Sister Chen and three days of community sewage cleanup. Sister Chen harbored hatred and attempted poisoning, but poisoned herself instead. Lin Jing saved her, reported the crime to the police, sold her apartment, and decisively severed ties with the parasitic neighbors, driving away toward a free new life to live solely for herself.
