On a stormy night, Liu Chunniang rescues Bai Rong, an injured and pregnant white fox. Recognizing Chunniang as the mother of her benefactor Liu Dashan, Bai Rong stays to repay the favor. She warms the stove with fox fire and uses nine-eared grain seeds to help the entire village survive famine. The tyrant Ma Wancai and the swindler Huang Banxian repeatedly plot against them to seize the fox pearl and grain fields. Together with Liu Chunniang's family, Bai Rong leads the villagers in using a bowl of rice from each household, the nine-eared grain, and fox fire to reseal the dark wind of Wushan and save the village. Although Bai Rong loses her fox pearl and her ability to speak, she becomes Liu Chunniang's eternal daughter. Ten years later, after Liu Chunniang peacefully passes away, Bai Rong brings her young fox kits to bow in gratitude. The fox fire burns bright forever, and porridge from the Hall of Good Deeds warms generations to come.
