Gu Yuan, a modern corporate worker, transmigrates to ancient times. On a snowy day, he is beaten with clubs by his biological father and stepmother and forced to sign a deed severing all family ties, while his pregnant wife shields him at all costs. Left with nowhere else to turn, the couple seeks refuge with her family, where the Xia father and sons warmly take them in. Moved by their kindness, Gu Yuan uses his modern knowledge to craft floral soap and Qingyu ointment to make a fortune starting from a humble stall, later partnering with wealthy merchants to expand the business. When the toxic Gu family sees his success and comes causing scenes to extort money, Gu Yuan simply enters the Xia family as a matrilocal son-in-law. Later, he builds workshops, uncovers a spy apprentice's plot to steal his formula, and steadily climbs higher, leading the Xia family to a life of wealth and security.
