An ambulance driver dies in a car crash while rescuing a mother and daughter. He is reincarnated in the Republican era into the body of a dock coolie named Lin Yanzhou, gaining the blessing of a game-like system with self-defense skills. Later, he is forced into an underworld child-trafficking conspiracy. Unable to watch children suffer, Lin Yanzhou slays the mobsters. Discovering that the mysterious disappearances of his father and brother are tied to the gang, he dons a ghostly mask to become the Ghost Face Asura, battling the syndicates and taking down the invaders, enduring countless perils to finally rise as an anti-Japanese patriot.
