Qi'er learned goji-growing skills outside and returned to the barren Goji Village. The south slope behind the village has been abandoned for years, villagers only grow coarse grains and depend on heaven for food. Qi'er proposes planting goji, opposed by Qi Bo who thinks there is no way to sell it. Qi'er insists on trial planting, clears the slope with A Shi and Da Niu, propagates seedlings by cuttings, prunes and thins fruit, survives pests and rainy spells, finally harvests goji, makes wine and sauce, opens up sales, and leads the whole village to turn the barren slope into a goji garden, making goji famous all over the mountains.
