Lin Qiao, a young farm girl, once saved a mother and child pair of weasel spirits. They brought her gold and silver twice to repay her kindness and help cure her gravely ill parents. Jealous of her natural good luck, her scheming best friend Su Ling fabricated lies about sudden wealth bringing disaster to stop her, while secretly using dark arts to steal her good fortune. After the villagers Chuntao and Er Laizi greedily stole the treasures, chaos ensued in the village. Upon learning the truth, Lin Qiao met a wandering Daoist priest and, with the help of the mother weasel who sacrificed her cultivation, broke the fortune-stealing formation. Su Ling's dark magic backfired, leading to her downfall. Lin Qiao's good fortune was restored, her parents recovered, and after inheriting a relative's estate, she spent her days doing good deeds and living a peaceful, prosperous life.
