Lu Ye, a down-and-out delivery boy at the bottom of society, is coaxed into joining the Qingyun Sword Sect by its penniless Chief Elder, Li Xuance. Illiterate as he is, Lu Ye accidentally holds the sword manual upside down, activating his long-dormant, extraordinary Sword Bone of eighteen years and forging a uniquely reversed path of sword cultivation. Bound by their own pasts and inner conflicts, the sect members struggle to survive using market-smart street wisdom. As the Hundred Sects Sword Tournament arrives, seven members head to the Yuntai Sword Arena where top masters gather. Lu Ye and his senior brothers and sisters fight against disciples from prestigious sects as underdog rivals, overcoming crisis after crisis in battle while unraveling long-buried secrets of their sect.
