After an accident, Mu Chun travels back to the third year of the Hongwu era and becomes the adopted son of Emperor Hongwu Zhu Yuanzhang and Empress Ma, while remaining the biological son of Mu Ying. He originally intends to take life easy and enjoy his privileged existence. Durch einen Unfall gelangt Mu Chun in das dritte Jahr der Hongwu-Ära und wird zum Adoptivsohn von Kaiser Hongwu Zhu Yuanzhang und Kaiserin Ma. Zugleich ist er der Sohn von Mu Ying. Ursprünglich möchte er einfach ein sorgenfreies Leben als wohlhabender Müßiggänger führen. Doch als er sieht, wie sehr Zhu Yuanzhang, Kaiserin Ma und der gütige Kronprinz Zhu Biao ihn lieben, und sich an das tragische Schicksal erinnert, das ihnen laut den Geschichtsbüchern bevorsteht, kann Mu Chun nicht länger untätig bleiben.
