Gu Chengzhou, the son of the richest man in the country, pretends to be a nouveau riche for love and is about to get engaged to Lu Qianqian, an artsy young woman. When Lin Fan, his girlfriend's childhood friend, opens a coffee shop, everything is free for everyone except Gu Chengzhou's cup, which costs an outrageous 1,800. Using his status as Lu Qianqian's male best friend to provoke him, Lin Fan insults Gu Chengzhou as a country bumpkin. Unable to tell right from wrong, Lu Qianqian forces Gu Chengzhou to apologize and pay compensation, even slapping him in front of everyone. Finally coming to his senses, Gu Chengzhou walks away. His older sister, Gu Yao, arrives in a luxury car to pick him up. No longer blinded by love, he decides to open his own business and acquires all 18 shops across the street. Using business tactics to strike back, he ultimately makes Lu Qianqian, Lin Fan, and the others lose their entire fortunes over that overpriced cup of coffee.
