Young Lin Fan predicts an unprecedented heatwave, exhausts his savings, and takes out loans to install high-standard heat-protection facilities in his watermelon orchard. He is abandoned by his fiancée Lin Jing for his apparent recklessness, ridiculed by the villagers, and maliciously targeted by rival grower Zhao Qiang who tries to seize his land. When the heatwave arrives as predicted, Zhao Qiang's crops fail completely and he faces legal consequences for sabotaging facilities, leaving Lin Jing filled with regret. Lin Fan's orchard alone enjoys a bumper harvest. He gives back to his fellow villagers, leads the community toward modern agriculture, marries the tech-savvy Xia Qing, and achieves lasting success through integrity and foresight—showcasing the power of holding the line and prospering through science.
