Yi Gui, a fire laborer on Tiangong Peak, is dissatisfied with acting sect master Zhao Xuanling's forceful extraction of disciples' spiritual fires using the "Soul-Melting Orthodoxy." Under the guidance of former first seat Wen Guzhou, he inherits the incomplete Tiangong Bladeless Seal and masters reverse-engineering spirit runes on broken artifacts and reconstructing ancient techniques. Relying on repairing the Cloud-Piercing Shuttle and the Mountain-Anchoring Heavy Blade, he takes first place in the Artifact Grand Tournament, only to be trapped by Zhao Xuanling in the Sword-Cleansing Secret Realm. Joining forces with Su Zhaowan and Li Huaizhen, Yi Gui destroys the Soul-Melting Puppets and secures ironclad proof of the forbidden art. Ultimately, at the sect council, he abolishes the Soul-Melting code, vindicates Wufeng Peak, reopens the Wufeng Artifact Hall, and embarks on an immortal path of forging a new way with broken artifacts.
