In the Republic-era Chalu Tun, folk legends regarding mountain spirits circulate. The hunter Liu Tiezhu marries into the tomb-guarding Hu family to repay his father's debts, wedding the tomb-guarding woman Hu Qianqian. Servants in the household, coveting the relics in the ancient mountain tomb, collude with Liu's father and a woman playing the god to set up a scheme, manufacturing illusions based on rural rumors to alienate the couple and coerce the two into leading the way into the mountains to search for treasure. The bizarre scenes appearing one after another are all man-made traps, and the greedy individuals who break into the ancient tomb reap what they sow. Through a local suspense story, the series warns the world that illusory rumors are all spawned by selfish desires, and greed is the root of misfortune, advocating adhering to one's original mindset, showing reverence for the mountains and forests, and casting aside greed.
