Chen Zhiyuan dug a well at his own expense to solve the entire village's drinking water problem, but his relative Chen Changgen incited the villagers to force him to hand it over as a "public resource". Facing moral kidnapping and police intervention, Chen Zhiyuan angrily filled in the well and ordered cement to seal it completely. In the end, the villagers raised funds to rebuild the well and showed sincere remorse. Chen Zhiyuan let go of his resentment, choosing reconciliation and leaving after defending his dignity.
