I Got Divorced to Afford Cake
After spending three years at home caring for her paralyzed mother-in-law, Shen Qiuping asks her husband for 18.8 yuan to buy a box of cream puffs. Instead, he tells her, "You don't earn a single penny. How dare you spend 18.8 yuan on cream puffs?" She files for divorce on the spot and puts her long-neglected caregiving skills back to use, starting as a nanny before joining forces with other women whose wages have been withheld to establish a domestic services company. When her ex-husband and his business partner undercut her to steal a major contract and leave a nursing home in chaos, she is the one who must clean up their mess. Three years later, her former mother-in-law joins the queue to hire a caregiver, only to hear the receptionist say, "Our boss doesn't have a mother-in-law."
