I Only Wanted to Place Third, Yet Was Personally Named Top Scholar
After transmigrating to the Great Qi Dynasty, Shen He'an had already planned out his life: pass the imperial examinations and place third, secure an easygoing government post, and find a peaceful place with beautiful mountains and clear waters where he could live out his days in comfort. During the imperial examination, he deliberately concealed his abilities and held back at every turn. Unfortunately, the knowledge he had accumulated in his previous life was beyond his control, and his essay on flood control astonished the entire imperial court. On the day the results were announced, the herald loudly proclaimed the good news: the emperor had personally appointed him the new top scholar! He only wanted to be a carefree minor official, but fate kept pushing him forward. Sent far away to Henan Circuit to oversee flood control, he uncovered a shocking corruption scandal.
